A Look into Journeying with Iboga Tabernanthe
Iboga was first introduced to me as The Great Grandfather Spirit — also known as The Tree of Knowledge. Iboga is a shrub grown in West Africa and kept sacred by the Bwiti tribe, who consume the plant during sacred ceremonies. When Iboga was gifted to me, I chewed the bark — a bitter taste that my heart grew to love. I’m unsure how much I ate during this first sitting; I was under the supervision of my partner, Tehuti Ra El, who had been dedicated to serving this medicine for years. He gave me the strength to allow my intuition to take the wheel. In increments, I kept reaching for more Iboga until the veil had been lifted.

First my eyes were blurry — then they cleared up, and an intense amount of energy arrived. A powerful meditation followed, along with the ability to see in two worlds. The physical reality that we live in was simply a pillar providing structural support to a whole other layer of light, another world that we also live in but often forget. Eventually the physical structure was no longer needed and dissolved completely. I was given a vision which in time I will share.
The spirit of iboga can help you remember the wisdom that has always been there within you. The wisdom of our ancestors lives within our bones. Though, in a world where the mind, the maya, the illusion, has overpowered many people’s ability to listen, it is necessary to purify ourselves before being able to access many of these gifts. The Bwiti tribe teaches that the key to accessing spiritual realms is through good health, and Iboga assists with this purification.

Iboga interacts with our neurotransmitters to regrow brain matter, combating much of the damage the brain has received through chemical-based foods and traumas. This removes a lot of the distortion and delusion that many people suffer from. Moving into a true perception also requires the proper function of the nervous system, which the alkaloids in Iboga assist in balancing. This is why Iboga is referred to as a master plant doctor.
In the process of restoring the brain, people may experience visions of the past and future. These visions can feel like a movie playing in your head as memories are actively being restored in your body. Joyful experiences are remembered, ancestral wisdom is activated, addictions are removed, and the trajectory is reset for a peaceful life.
Guided Ceremonies
Brandywine, Maryland - September 13th-14th, 2025
Houston, Texas - October 4th-5th, 2025
Today, my husband — the same medicine person who guided me through my first journey — is leading two opportunities for Iboga ceremonies. His experience and devotion create a safe and sacred space for others to meet the spirit of Iboga, connect with their ancestors, and begin their own journey of healing and remembrance.
